Aja Ekadashi Vrat katha
Ekadashi of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapad month is famous by the name of Aja and it is also called Annada Ekadashi. By observing the fast of this Ekadashi, all the sins of the living beings from several births are destroyed, while by removing their sorrows, their fortune also rises. Whatever wish someone makes while observing this fast, all his wishes are fulfilled immediately. In this fast, the Upendra form of Lord Vishnu is duly worshipped.
Vrat Katha- According to the Puranas, the importance of Ekadashi was told by Lord Krishna himself to Dharmaraj Yudhishthira. The one who observes the fast of Aja Ekadashi is entitled to virtue equal to that of performing Ashwamedha Yagya. After death, he gets a place in Vishnulok.
In the Satyug, there was a Suryavanshi Chakravarti King Harishchandra who was very truthful. Once, for the sake of his promise, he donated his entire kingdom to Rajrishi Vishwamitra and to give Dakshina, he sold not only his wife and son but even himself as a slave to a Chandal.
Despite facing many hardships, he did not deviate from the truth, then one day he met Sage Gautam. He told him the glory of Aja Ekadashi and asked him to observe this fast. King Harishchandra observed this fast as per his capability. Due to its effect, he not only got his lost kingdom back but also enjoyed all kinds of happiness with his family and finally attained the supreme abode of God.
All his sins were destroyed due to the effect of Aja Ekadashi fast. He also got back his lost kingdom and family.
Ekadashi is very dear to God and the devotees who observe this fast enjoy all the pleasures of the world and finally attain the ultimate abode of the Lord. Staying awake at night on Ekadashi is of great importance. The donations made on this day also yield many times more virtuous results. On the day of Dwadashi, one should eat after feeding a Brahmin in the morning. Remember not to eat brinjal on the day of Dwadashi.
God is omnipotent and omnipresent and without asking, He knows the entire situation of His devotee and removes all his troubles and worries. Those devotees who do only His devotion with true devotion, God showers His blessings on them in the same way as He gave everything to His friend Sudama without saying anything. Therefore, the devotees who ask for His service from God are always happy and content.
