Maa Durga Aarti

(1) Jai Ambe Gauri, Maiya Jai Shyama Gauri ।
Tumko Nishadin Dhyaavat,
Maiyaji Ko Sada Manavat,
Hari Brahma Shivari ॥
Jai Ambe Gauri ।।

Meaning: O Mother Durga Bhavani! Ambe, victory to you. O Mother Shyama Gauri! Victory to you. Everyone worships you always (every day). O Mother! Lord Shri Hari Vishnuji, Brahmaji and Shivji always remember you and acknowledge you, worship you. O! Ambe, victory to you.

(2) Maang Sindoor Virajat,
Tiko Mrigmad Ko,-2
Ujjwal Se Dou Naina,-2
Chandravadan Niko ॥
Jai Ambe Gauri ।।

Meaning: O Mother Durga! Sindoor is looking beautiful in your hair parting. The tilak made of musk on your forehead is shining. Your two eyes are shining, unperturbed and pure and your radiant body is fragrant like the smell of sandalwood. O! Ambe, hail to you.

(3) Kanak Saman Kalevar,
Raktambar Raaje,-2
Raktpushp Gal Maala,-2
Kanthon Par Saaje ॥
Jai Ambe Gauri ।।

Meaning: O Mother Durga! Your body is shining like gold, you wear saffron (red) coloured clothes. A garland of red coloured oleander flowers adorns your neck. O! Ambe, you are victorious.

(4) Kehari Vahan Rajat,
Khadag Khappar Dhari,-2
Sur Nar Munijan Sevat,-2
Tinke Dukh Haari ॥
Jai Ambe Gauri ।।

Meaning: O Mother Durga! You ride on your vehicle lion. You hold a sword in your hands and a skull in which flames keep burning. All the gods, humans and sages always serve you while singing your praises. You take away the sorrows of the devotees who worship you. O! Ambe, you are victorious.

(5) Kaanan Kundal Shobhit,
Naasaagre Moti,-2
Kotik Chandr Divakar,-2
Rajat Sam Jyoti ॥
Jai Ambe Gauri ।।

Meaning:  O Mother Durga! The earrings worn in your ears and the pearl worn on the tip of your nose are looking beautiful, that is, the earrings and the pearl in the nose look beautiful. They look as if millions of suns and moons are shining. That is, the ornaments worn in your ears and nose are even more luminous than millions of suns and moons. O! Ambe, you are victorious.

(6) Shumbh-Nishumbh Vidaare,
Mahishasur Ghaati,-2
Dhumra Vilochan Naina,-2
Nishidin Madamaati ॥
Jai Ambe Gauri ।।

Meaning: O Durga Mata! By killing the demons Shumbh and Nishumbh with your sharp attack, you have also killed the demon Mahishasur and liberated the three worlds. Your eyes which appear like smoke always appear intoxicated, that is, these eyes look glorious. O! Ambe, you are victorious .

(7) Chand-Mund Sanhaare,
Shonit Beej Hare,-2
Madhu-Kaitabh Dou Maare,-2
Sur Bhayheen Kare ॥
Jai Ambe Gauri ।।

Meaning: O Durga Mata! You have killed the demons named Chunda and Mund. You have also killed Raktbeej and saved everyone. You have also freed the gods from fear by killing two dreaded demon brothers named Madhu and Kaitabh. O! Ambe, you are victorious.

(8) Brahmani, Rudrani,
Tum Kamla Raani,-2
Aagam Nigam Bakhaani,-2
Tum Shiv Patraani ॥
Jai Ambe Gauri ।।

Meaning: O Mother Durga! You are Brahmaani i.e. Saraswati. You are Rudraani i.e. Parvati. And you are Kamala Rani i.e. Mahalakshmi . You are also described in the scriptures and Vedas. O Mother Jagadamba, you are the consort i.e. wife of Lord Shiva-Shankar. O! Ambe, you are victorious.

(9) Chaunsath Yogini Mangal Gaavat,
Nritya Karat Bhairu,-2
Baajat Taal Mridanga,-2
Aru Baajat Damru ॥
Jai Ambe Gauri ।।

Meaning: O Jagadamba Bhavani Durga Mata! Sixty four Yoginis sing your praises and Bhairon Baba dances in your praise. Drums, kettledrums and damru are played in your praise. O! Ambe, victory to you.

(10) Tum Hi Jagat Ki Maata,
Tum Hi Ho Bharta,-2
Bhaktan Ki Dukh Harta,-2
Sukh Sampatti Karta ॥
Jai Ambe Gauri ।।

Meaning: O Mother Bhavani! You are the mother of this whole world. You are the one who nurtures everyone. You are the one who takes away the sorrows of your devotees. And you are the one who gives happiness and wealth to everyone. O! Ambe, you are victorious.

(11) Bhuja Chaar Ati Shobhit,
Var Mudra Dhari,-2
Manvaanchhit Phal Paavat,-2
Sevat Nar-Naari ॥
Jai Ambe Gauri ।।

Meaning: O Mother Durga! Your four arms are very beautiful and graceful. You look very graceful in the boon-giving posture. You give fruits according to their wishes to those men and women who worship you daily. O! Ambe, you are victorious.

(12) Kanchan Thaal Virajat,
Agar Kapoor Baati,-2
Shreemalaketu Mein Rajat,-2
Koti Ratna Jyoti ॥
Jai Ambe Gauri ।।

Meaning: O Mother Kalyani! Your Aarti is performed on a gold plate decorated with incense sticks, camphor and lamps. You reside in Srimalketu i.e. that part of Aravali mountain which shines like silver, where the light of your Aarti is more than the light of millions of gems. O Ambe! Victory to you.
