The puja begins after the stars appear
On this day, women draw a picture of Ahoi Mata on the wall in the evening and also draw pictures of children named Sei and Sei around it. Some people also worship Ahoi Mata by drawing colorful pictures of Ahoi Mata on paper. Some women also make a silver Ahoi named Syau for worship, in which two silver beads are put for special worship.
After the stars appear, the worship of Ahoi Mata begins. Before the worship, the ground is cleaned, the puja platform is prepared, a vessel is filled with water and placed on one corner of the platform like a Kalash and then the worship is performed. After this, the story of Ahoi Ashtami Vrat is heard.
The fast ends after Chandra Darshan
On the day of Ahoi Ashtami, mothers worship Ahoi Mata and observe a fast for the well-being of their children. Mothers worship Ahoi Mata with great enthusiasm and pray for the long life, good health and happy life of their children. The fast ends after the sighting and worship of the moon. This day is also called Krishna Ashtami. On this day many people come on pilgrimage to Radha Kund in Mathura. This fast is especially observed in North India. This fast is considered important in UP, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
Ahoi Ashtami Importance
Ahoi Ashtami Vrat is observed three days after Karva Chauth. Just like Karva Chauth fast is observed for the long life of the husband, similarly Ashtami fast is observed for the long life and happy life of the children. On this day women observe Nirjala Vrat . It is believed that by observing fast on the day of Ahoi Ashtami and worshipping Ahoi Mata with rituals, Mother Parvati protects your children just like her sons. Along with this, this fast is also of special importance for getting a son.
Take special care of these rules on Ashtami Vrat
1. Lord Ganesha must be worshipped on Ahoi Ashtami.
2. The fast of Ahoi Ashtami is broken after seeing the stars. After this, Ahoi Mata is worshipped.
3. It is considered auspicious to keep 7 grains in hand while listening to the story on this day. After the worship, these grains should be fed to the cow.
4. Children should also be made to sit with you while worshipping Ahoi Ashtami. After offering the food to the Goddess, the Prasad must be fed to the children.
