Why is Dhanteras celebrated?
Dhanteras is made up of two words “Dhan” and “Teras” which means thirteen times wealth. According to religious texts, during the Samudra Manthan, on the Trayodashi of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month, Lord Dhanvantri appeared from the sea with a pot in his hand.
Lord Dhanvantri is considered to be a part of Lord Vishnu. He propagated and spread medical science in the world. This day is also celebrated as National Ayurveda Day.

The Trayodashi Tithi will begin on October 18 at 12:18 PM and will end on October 19 at 1:51 PM. The Pradosh Kaal will be from 5:48 PM to 8:19 PM. The Vrishabha Kaal will be from 7:15 PM to 9:11 PM. The auspicious timing for the worship will be from 7:15 PM to 8:19 PM.
