How was Janaki attained?
According to the legend, there was a famine in the kingdom of King Janak of Mithila. To solve this problem, King Janak, on the advice of his Guru, made a golden plough and started ploughing the land. During this time, he found a girl in an earthen pot. According to many beliefs, the ploughed land and the tip of the plough are called sith, hence its name was Sita. This day is celebrated with great joy in Mithila.

When Janak got worried about this, he consulted the sages and saints.
Then the sages advised the king to plow the field himself to get the blessings of Indra. It is believed that Punaura village in Simrahi, Bihar is the place where King Janak plowed. While plowing, the plow hit the metal and got stuck. Janak ordered the excavation of this place. At the same time, a pot appeared inside which there was a beautiful girl. King Janak was childless. By the grace of God, he made the girl his daughter. The girl came out of the pot because a fruit named Sita was stuck in the plow, so the girl was named Sita.
