Meaning –  Salutations to Lord Kalbhairav, the supreme lord of Kashi. Whose lotus feet are worshipped by Lord Indra, the king of gods. Who has a snake in his sacred thread. Who has the moon on his forehead and is extremely compassionate. Who is praised by Narada, the sages of the gods and other yogis. Who is Digambara. Wearing the sky as his dress. Which is a symbol of his being liberated.

Bhaanu-koti-bhaasvaram bhavabhdhitaarakam param
Neelakantham eepsitaarthadaayakam trilochanam |
Kaalkaalamambujaksham akshashoolam aksharam
Kaashika-pura-adhinaath-kaalbhairavam bhaje॥2॥
bhānu-koti-bhasvaram bhavavidhi-tarakam
param nila-kantham-ipsita-artha-dayakam trilochanam |
kala-kalam-ambuja-aksham-aksam-aksa-shulam-aksharam
kaṣika-pura-adhinatha-kalabhairavam bhaje ||2||

Meaning – Salutations to Lord Kalbhairav, the supreme lord of Kashi. Who has the radiance of a million suns. Who saves devotees from the cycle of rebirth. And who is supreme. Whose throat is blue. Who grants us our wishes. And who has three eyes. Who is death unto death itself and whose eyes are like lotus. Whose trident holds the world and who is immortal.

Meaning – Salutations to Lord Kalbhairav, the supreme lord of Kashi. Who has trident, spade, noose and mace in his hands. Whose body is black. Who is the original God. Who is immortal. And who is free from the diseases of the world. Who is extremely powerful and who loves the wonderful Tandava dance.

Meaning – Salutations to Lord Kalabhairava, the supreme lord of Kashi. Who grants both desires and salvation. Who has pleasing forms. Who is loving to his devotees. Who is stable as the lord of all worlds. Who wears a golden belt around his waist with bells running along it which make a melodious sound.

Karm-paashamochakam, susharmaadaayakam vibhum |
Swarn-varn-shesh-paash-shobhitaang-mandalam

Meaning – Salutations to Lord Kalbhairav, the supreme lord of Kashi. Who ensures that Dharma (righteousness) prevails. Who destroys the path of Adharma (evil). Who saves us from the bondages of karma. By which our soul is liberated. And whose body is wrapped with golden serpents.

Nityam adviteeyam isht-devatam niranjanam |
Mrityu-darp-naashanam karaal-damstramokshanam
Kaashika-pura-adhinaath-kaalbhairavam bhaje ॥6॥

Meaning – Salutations to Lord Kalbhairav, the supreme lord of Kashi . Who has two golden sandals adorned with gems at his feet. Who is eternal. Advaita Ishta Devata (God who fulfills our desires). Who destroys the pride of Yama (God of death). Whose terrible teeth set us free.

Ashtasiddhi-daayakam kapal-maalikaadhar
Kaashika-pura-adhinaath-kaalbhairavam bhaje ॥7॥
Ath-haasaa-bhinnaa-padma-jaanndako-shasantatim
Drishtipaat-naashta-paap-jaalam ugra-shaasanam |
Ashtasiddhi-daayakam kapal-maalikaadhar
Kaashika-pura-adhinaath-kaalbhairavam bhaje ||7||

Meaning – Salutations to Lord Kalbhairav, the supreme lord of Kashi. Whose roar destroys the veil of the creations of the lotus-born Brahma (i.e. the illusions of our mind). Whose one glance is enough to destroy all our sins. Who gives us eight siddhis (achievements). And who wears a garland of skulls.

Meaning – Salutations to Lord Kalbhairav, the supreme lord of Kashi. Who is the leader of ghosts and spirits. Who bestows glory. Who frees the people of Kashi from their sins and unrighteous deeds. Who guides us on the path of righteousness. Who is the most ancient (eternal) lord of the universe.

Gyaan-mukti-saadhanam vichitra-punya-vardhanam |
Shoka-moha-dainya-lobha-kopa-taapa-naashanam
Prayaanti Kaala Bhairava anghri-sannidhim nara dhruvam ॥9॥
Kaala Bhairava Ashtakam pathanti ye manoharam
Gyaan-mukti-saadhanam vichitra-punya-vardhanam |
Shoka-moha-dainya-lobha-kopa-taapa-naashanam
Prayaanti Kaala Bhairava anghri-sannidhim nara dhruvam ॥9॥

Meaning – Salutations to Lord Kalabhairava, the supreme lord of Kashi. One who recites these eight verses of Kalabhairava Ashtakam. One who is beautiful. One who is the source of knowledge and liberation. One who increases various types of righteousness in man. One who destroys sorrow, attachment, poverty, greed, anger and heat – will attain the feet of Lord Kalabhairava ( Lord Shiva ) (after death).
