What is Ravi Pradosh Vrat?

Ravi Pradosh Vrat is the Pradosh fast observed on a Sunday that falls on the Trayodashi Tithi. The Pradosh fast is dedicated to Lord Shiva, but since it occurs on a Sunday, it also brings the special blessings of the Sun God. This fast is considered highly auspicious for attaining good health, radiance, energy, and prosperity.

Ravi Pradosh Vrat: Date and Time

Ravi Pradosh Vrat is observed only when the Trayodashi Tithi falls on a Sunday. The most auspicious time for worship is the Pradosh Kaal.

Pradosh Kaal Timing:
From about 45 minutes before sunset to 45 minutes after sunset.

Pradosh Vrat is observed on the Trayodashi Tithi of both the Krishna Paksha and Shukla Paksha every month. This time, the Trayodashi Tithi of the Shukla Paksha of the month of Falgun will begin on 28 February 2026 at 8:05 PM and will end on 1 March 2026 at 6:30 PM.

Therefore, the Ravi Pradosh Vrat will be observed on Sunday, 1 March 2026.

2. Conduct Throughout the Day

  • You may observe a fruit-only fast or a waterless fast.
  • Avoid negative thoughts, anger, and arguments.
  • Keep chanting the name of Lord Shiva.

3. Worship During Pradosh Kaal

Required Items:
Water, milk, Ganga water, bel leaves, sandalwood paste, white flowers, incense, lamp, offering, silk cloth, rice grains.

Worship Procedure:

  • Perform abhishekam of the Shivling with water, milk, and Ganga water.
  • Offer bel leaves, sandalwood, and flowers to the Shivling.
  • Light a lamp and chant “Om Namah Shivaya.”
  • Offer water (Arghya) to the Sun God.
  • Read the Shiva Chalisa and Pradosh Vrat Katha.
  • Finally, perform the aarti.
