The date of Sankranti has special significance in Sanatan Dharma. On this day, hundreds of devotees gather on the banks of holy rivers for religious bathing and worship. According to the Hindu calendar, this year Dhanu Sankranti is on the Ashtami date of Krishna Paksha of Paush month. Sankranti is celebrated as a festival in many parts of the country. Let us tell you that when the Sun God leaves one zodiac sign and enters another, it is called Sankranti.

Bathing in rivers on Sankranti has special importance

Astrologers believe that bathing in pilgrimage sites or holy rivers on this day brings special fruits. In religious texts, there is a tradition of worshiping Lord Surya as well as Bholenath and Lord Vishnu on this day. Tarpan is also done on that day. It is said that offering tarpan to ancestors on this day brings peace and blessings. This reduces the suffering of children.

What to donate

Although every kind of donation is pious, but on the day of Dhanu Sankranti, one should donate as much as possible to the needy. But the priests say that cow donation should be done especially on the day of Surya Pooja festival. To get rid of everyday problems, you can also choose this solution – feed fodder to the cow on this day. Feeding fodder to the cow on this day is pious.

Sagittarius Sankranti Puja

According to the priests, discipline and purity are required on the day of Surya Sankranti Puja. On this day, one should wake up early in the morning, take a bath, meditate and offer arghya to the rising sun as well as observe a fast and worship Surya Narayana. Aditya Hridya Stotra should be recited three times. After this, tarpan should be offered to the ancestors in the afternoon. Later donate to the needy and feed fodder to the cow. Salt should be excluded from food on this day.

Method of worship of Sagittarius Sankranti (Sagittarius Sankranti)

  • On the day of Sankranti, one should wake up in the Brahma Muhurta and after bathing and meditating, one should worship the Sun God as per the rituals. Please suggest offering Arghya to him as well.
  • On this day, bathing in holy water has special importance. If this is not possible, then add Ganga water to the water while bathing.
  • Lord Vishnu is especially worshipped on the day of Sankranti. So remember to offer fragrance, flowers, incense, lamps etc. to him on this day and use Tulsi leaves in the worship of Shri Hari.
  • After worshiping Lord Vishnu, Goddess Lakshmi, Mahadev and Brahma are also worshiped and Aarti is performed.
  • After this, sweet rice is offered to Lord Sun on this day and distributed among the family as prasad.
