Shri Radha-Pad Kamal Raj, Sir Dhari Yamuna kool।
Varano Chaalisa Saras, Sakal Sumangal Mool।।

Meaning: After paying obeisance at the feet of Mata Radha and taking a bath in the river Yamuna, we begin Gopal Chalisa with the hope of all good wishes.

Jai Jai Poorn Brahm Bihari, Dusht Dalan Leela Avataari।

Meaning: O Shri Krishna, you roam on the earth created by Brahma and destroy the wicked by showing your divine play. Victory to you, victory to you.

Jo Koi Tumhari Leela Gaavai, Bin Shram Sakal Padaarth Paavai।

Meaning: Whichever devotee worships you, he gets the fruits without doing any hard work.

Shri Vasudev Devaki Mata, Prakat Bhaye Sang Haladhar Bhraata।

Meaning: You are the son of Vasudeva and Devaki who was born after his elder brother Balarama.

Mathura So Prabhu Gokul Aaye, Nand Bhavan Me Bajat Badaaye।

Meaning: After being born in the prison of Kansa in Mathura, you were brought to Gokul village and raised in the house of Nanda Baba.

Jo Vish Den Pootana Aayi, So Mukti Dai Dhaam Pathaayi।

Meaning: When the demoness Putana, sent by Kansa, came to kill you on the pretext of feeding you milk, you killed her and freed her.

Trinavart Rakshas Sanhaarayau, Pag Badhaaye Sakatasur Maarayo।

Meaning: You killed the demon Kagasur and destroyed the demon Utkash with just a single blow of your foot.

Khel Khel Mein Maati Khaai, Mukh Mein Bab Jag Diyo Dikhaai।

Meaning: When you ate mud while playing and opened your mouth at the request of mother Yashoda, you showed her the universe through it.

Gopin Ghar Ghar Maakhan Khaayo, Jasumati Baal Keli Sukh Paayo।

Meaning: You ate butter from every Gopi’s house in Vrindavan and received the love of Mother Yashoda.

Ukhhal So Nij Ang Bandhaai, Yamalaarjun Jar Yoni Chhudaai।

Meaning: When Yashoda mother, fed up with your mischiefs, tied you to the mortar, then you freed Nalakubera and Manigriva from the curse of Narad Muni.

Bakasur Ki Chonch Vidaari, Vikat Aghasur Diyo Sanhaari।

Meaning: You killed the demon Bakasur by twisting his beak and also killed the deceitful demon Aghasur.

Brahma Balak Vats Churaaye, Mohan Ko Mohan Hit Aaye।

Meaning: When Lord Brahma stole your friend and cow, you considered it to be his illusion.

Baal Vats Sab Bane Muraari, Brahma Vinay Kari Tab Bhaari।

Meaning: You manifested yourself as your friend and Mother Cow in various forms and then on the request of Lord Brahma, you forgave them.

Kali Naag Naathi Bhagwana, Daavanal Ko Keenho Paana।

Meaning: All the people of Braj were troubled by the terror of Kaliya Nag but you broke the honour of that snake.

Meaning: The devotee who recites Shri Gopal Chalisa daily and meditates on the name of Krishna, his body and mind becomes pure and he gets a place in Golok.

Sansaar sukh Sampatti Sakal, Jo Bhaktjan San Mah Chahein।
Jay Ramdev Sadaiv So, Gurudev Daya Son Lahein।।

Meaning: He gets all the happiness and wealth of the world and his mind remains peaceful. Jai Ramdev always worships you and stays under the shelter of the Guru.
