It is believed that Lord Vishwakarma built the palaces of the gods, their divine weapons, and various mythological cities.
Stories and contributions of Lord Vishwakarma:
- Heaven and palaces of the gods: Vishwakarma built Indra's heaven, Lord Shiva's Kailash, and the abodes of other gods. Due to his unmatched brilliance of craftsmanship, he was considered the architect of the gods.
- Creation of weapons: Lord Vishwakarma created Vishnu's Sudarshan Chakra, Shiva's Trishul, Indra's Vajra, and Pushpak Vimana. All these divine weapons and equipment symbolize the protection and power of the gods.

Worship method and traditions of Vishwakarma Day:
- Cleaning and decoration of the place: The workplace, factory, or the place where machines and tools are kept is cleaned. It is decorated with flowers, lamps and rangoli.
- Installation of the idol of Lord Vishwakarma: An idol or picture of Lord Vishwakarma is installed at the place of worship. This place is decorated with flowers and lamps.
- Worship of tools and machines: On this day, tools, machines, and vehicles are worshipped by applying tilak on them. This is seen as a blessing that ensures efficiency and safety in work.
- Chanting of Mantras and Havan: The mantras of Lord Vishwakarma are chanted and a Havan is performed to seek happiness, prosperity and success of the work.
- Aarti and Prasad distribution: At the end of the puja, Aarti is performed and Prasad is distributed. All the family members and staff take the Prasad.
- A day off from work: On this day machines and tools are given rest and not used, this is seen as a show of respect for the equipment.
