Chapter 1 – Arjuna’s Despondency

Verse 9

Anye, ch, bahavH, shooraH, madarthe, tyaktjeevitaH,
NanashastrprharnaH, sarve, yuddhvishaardaH ||9||

Hindi Meaning:

(Duryodhana says)
There are also many other heroic warriors who are prepared to lay down their lives for my sake. They are all equipped with various kinds of weapons and are skilled in the art of warfare.

Simple Explanation / Deeper Meaning:

In this verse, Duryodhana is praising the strength of his army to his teacher Dronacharya. He wants to emphasize that not only are there a few prominent warriors on his side, but also many other brave and capable fighters who are equally powerful, valiant, and devoted.

He states that all these warriors are ready to fight for him and, if necessary, even sacrifice their lives without hesitation.

These warriors are armed with a wide variety of weapons, such as swords, spears, maces, and bows and arrows.

Most importantly, they are all well-versed in battle strategy and warfare techniques, which means they are not just physically strong but also tactically intelligent warriors.

This verse reflects Duryodhana’s pride and overconfidence in the power of his army. He wants to convey that his side is not inferior to the Pandavas in any way when it comes to strength or preparation for battle.
